Greymouth High School - Toki Pounamu cluster

Greymouth High School is a co-educational school of around 570 rangatahi and we pride ourselves on being a school for everyone. We have a kaupapa Māori class, a large Supported Learning department, a services academy and we oversee Alternative Education for our area. We want to support all of our rangatahi to “Whāea te iti kahurangi - strive for success” whatever success looks like to them and their whānau.

We also talk a lot about our ARCH values:

  • AKORANGA

  • RESPECT

  • COMMUNITY

  • HAUORA

And we see our values as closely aligning with our teaching and learning framework with Learn, Create, Share and the Hikairo schema at the centre of it.

Greymouth High School is also fortunate to be part of the Toki Pounamu Cluster in Greymouth, which has been part of the Manaiakalani Outreach Programme since 2015 with the Trust providing lease to buy in 2016. We work collaboratively with schools from the Grey District, Greymouth district and Greymouth South schools. The overall aim of the Toki Pounamu Education Trust is to develop the capacity of children and families in the West Coast community through the advancement of learning.
